Most of what we accomplish in the IT Division is the result of cooperative efforts in IT Portfolios.
Initiated in 2010, the IT Portfolios provide an opportunity for IT system users ("power users" or "functional owners") to provide feedback on the IT products on which they rely. Product users indicate the product's health (Good, OK, or Poor) and have the opportunity to propose replacements or new systems. In addition, portfolio members vote on how to distribute IT resources to best serve the needs of the portfolio.
The IT Portfolios were designed such that all IT products and systems would be represented in an appropriate portfolio. Members were solicited, broadly, from the campus user groups. Portfolio training was offered to all members.
Portfolios are led by a Manager (generally a non-IT staff at the Director or Department Chair level) and an IT Manager (a representative for the IT Division). Each portfolio is sponsored by a member of the President's Council. Each portfolio maintains a listing of its products, the product representative and product health.
