Portrait of Luis LopezLuis Lopez oversees the majority of the Division of Online & Continuing Education’s off-campus learning centers, as well as community education and outreach efforts for underserved populations.

His passion for education stems from his personal experiences. He has experienced the transformative power of education firsthand and sees it as the "great equalizer" for all members of the community. A mentor and relationship builder, he has a commitment to lifelong continuing education, and helping underserved populations has driven him to advocate for people in need. 

With a bachelor's degree in Spanish teaching with a minor in ESL and a master's degree in education leadership and policy from the University of Utah, Luis brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role. In addition, he is a two-term elected official on the Ogden City Council, further demonstrating his commitment to serving his community.

Luis's biggest accomplishments include leading efforts to build the Community Education Center and starting successful university and community partnerships and programs such as ESL, Computer Literacy, Professional Sales and the Venture Course. He is passionate about shaping the future of education and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and enjoys being part of the division at Weber State that leads the way toward innovation.
