Advising & Testing
As part of VUB orientation, counselors administer the Computerized Placement Test (CPT) and the COPS Interest Inventory to determine academic skill level and career interests. Counselors will then discuss test results with program participants so that educational goals and opportunities can be optimized. Counselors will also advise VUB program participants about employment opportunities in their areas of interest as well as financial resources. Referrals to other educational and community resources will be made according to individual need. Free tutoring in math, English, and computer literacy, is offered to program participants. In addition, instruction in other areas is available as needed. Class size is small and individual tutoring sessions can be arranged by appointment. Online computer-based instruction is also available. |
