I returned to school at the age of forty-three to work on my baccalaureate degree, which I received in May 1999.  I received my M.S. in English in May 2003.

Since December of 1999, I have worked as a Basic Skills Specialist for Veterans Upward Bound. In addition, I work as an adjunct instructor of English for Weber State University's English Department, teaching 0960 and 1010.

These past few years have been very rewarding as I have been able to assist veterans to confidently approach postsecondary education by helping them to upgrade their computer and English skills.

As a non-traditional student, myself, I feel that I have special empathy for veterans and their needs.  However, I enjoy working with students of all cultures, genders, and academic levels because helping people to achieve their educational potential is, to me, a singularly moving and worthwhile experience.   I am a firm believer that education truly is an exciting, "life-long" process.
