Background
I grew up one of 7 children of a career navy sailor. Born in Minnesota, we moved to California when I was about three years old. Spent most of my years growing up in San Diego. After high school, I moved to Utah. In November of 1982, I englisted in the U.S. Army where I served for the next 22 years, retiring in 2005. I spent time in the infantry, and on recruiting duty. I received my bachelor degree the year before I retired and can relate to going to college later in life. I have been with Veterans Upward Bound since December of 2008 and love helping veterans with their educational goals.
