Achievement Indicator: Students progress in their programs of study

This page presents the acceptable thresholds and measures for each of the metrics used to assess the indicator of achievement.

Metric: First Year Retention Rate Comparison

Threshold: WSU’s first year retention rate will place it in the upper half of peer institutions.

Rationale for the performance metric: Student retention relative to peer institutions provides data allowing WSU to evaluate whether it is more or less successful than peer institutions in retaining students past their first year.

Comparison of WSU Graduation Rate to Those of Peer Institutions (2005 Cohort)

WSU’s graduation rate is 43% (ranked 4th out of 11 institutions)
(The 2005 cohort is the most recent which provides publicly available, six-year graduation rates.)

Metric: Degrees Awarded

Threshold: WSU’s awarded degrees per 100 FTE students will place it in the upper half of in-state peer institutions.

Rationale for the performance metric: Degrees awarded per FTE student is a measure of timely achievement of degrees.
