Summer Semester 2010 Scholarships

There are a limited number of academic scholarships available to WSU students enrolling full-time during summer semester 2011. We encourage you to take advantage of this great opportunity to continue pursuing your educational goals.

* Please be advised that tuition waiver scholarships do not pay for independent study, continuing education (CE), distance learning/contract courses, credit/noncredit or audit course work.

CRITERIA:

  1. Register for, and complete, at least 12 credit hours during summer semester 2011. The registration can be during one, or a combination of the three registration periods (full 14- week semester, first 7-week block, and second 7-week block). However, you must be enrolled full time (at least 12 credit hours).

  2. If you drop below full-time enrollment (12 credit hours), the scholarship will be removed and you will be responsible for any tuition and/or fees owed to the University.

  3. Students will be awarded as they register for summer classes. There is no Summer application to complete.  Summer Pell Grants require half time attendance (6 semester credits) and Summer Scholarships require full time attendance (12 semester credits).  Scholarships are awarded on a first come first serve basis.

  4. These scholarships are based on academic merit and WSU cumulative GPA as of fall semester 2010:

'10 Fall WSU cumulative GPA 3.75 to 4.00 Award = $1,050
'10 Fall WSU cumulative GPA 3.50 to 3.74 Award = $650
'10 Fall WSU cumulative GPA 3.00 to 3.49 Award = $300

DO THE FOLLOWING:

Step 1) Register for Summer classes.

Step 2) Update your scholarship application for 2010-2011. Go to the WSU Homepage https://www.weber.edu/ and log into the eWeber student portal.

    1. Click the Student Services tab.
    2. Go to the Financial Services section located on the lower left of the screen and click the Scholarship Application link.
    3. Complete the application and click the Submit button at the bottom of the page.

Note: If you experience any technical difficulty, please contact Computing Support at (801) 626-7777.

Step 3) If you intend to enroll in both the 1st and 2nd 7-week blocks, you must register for both up-front so that the system indicates full-time status (at least 12 credit hours). Taking courses as audit, credit/no credit, and/or through Continuing Education programs do not qualify as eligible courses for scholarship awards.

Step 4) Verify lawful presence.  Beginning summer semester 2010, WSU is required to verify lawful presence in the United States before any scholarship monies can be released to a student.  To satisfy this requirement, you must do one of the following:

    • Submit a completed FAFSA application to the Department of Education (go to www.fafsa.ed.gov); or
    • Utah Drivers license issued after January 1, 2010; or
    • Original copy of birth certificate; or
    • Permanent Resident Card; or
    • U.S. passport; or
    • Consular Report of Birth Abroad (Form FS-240); or
    • Certificate of Citizenship (N-560 or N-561); or
    • Certificate of Naturalization (N-550 or N-570)

If you are verifying lawful presence using any one of the items “b” through “h” above, you will need to show that document to personnel located at the:
