To calculate your GPA by hand follow these directions.

Letter Grade Points How to Calculate
A 4.0
  1. Multiply the number of credits each class is worth by the point value for the letter grade that you earned in that class to determine the grade points for each class.

     

  2. Total the grade points of all your classes for that semester and divide it by the number of credit hours you registered for. This is your semester GPA.
A- 3.7
B+ 3.3
B 3.0
B- 2.7
C+ 2.3
C 2.0
C- 1.7
D+ 1.3
D 1.0
D- 0.7
E 0.0
Example:
Class Conversion Credits Points
MATH 1030 B+ = 3.3 points x     3 credits =  9.9 grade pts
ENGL 1010 C   = 2.0 points x     3 credits =  6.0 grade pts
GEOG 1100 A   = 4.0 points x     3 credits = 12.0 grade pts
BOT  1403 A   = 4.0 points x     3 credits = 12.0 grade pts
Totals:      12 credits    39.9 grade pts
GPA Calc =      39.9 points divided by 12 credits = 3.325 (or 3.33) GPA
