Student Success Center - General Studies

General Studies Degrees

You can earn one of two General Studies degrees: an Associate of Arts (AA) or an Associate of Science (AS). If you are earning one of these general studies degrees and want to declare General Studies as your major you should periodically meet with an advisor in the Student Success Center. To sign off for General Studies degree graduation, also see an advisor at the Center. The graduation application is available at

http://departments.weber.edu/registrar/graduation/applications.htm

and at the Graduation Office (Student Service Center room 101). Keep in mind the difference between General Studies and general education. If you are seeking a major other than General Studies, you should seek general education advice from your college advisor, not an advisor in the Student Success Center.

Requirements for General Studies degrees:

  • 20 hours in residency
  • At least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average at Weber
  • A minimum of 60 credit hours
  • Completion of all WSU general education requirements for catalog year
  • Complete a minimum of 3 credit hours from the list of approved Diversity courses

AA degree requires Foreign Language proficiency at the novice high (1020) level. AS degree does not require Foreign Language, nor does it require any more science courses than those required for an AA degree.
