Student Success Center - Early Alert Referral Service

Mission and Objectives

The mission of Weber State University's Early Alert Referral Service (EARS) is to connect WSU's undergraduate students facing academic difficulties with University resources that positively impact their academic success. This early intervention initiative of the Student Success Center provides students with helpful services, information, and referrals.

To support these students, EARS will be focusing on the following objectives and initiatives for the Fall 2008 semester.

  • Through EARS’ triage service, provide timely services, information, and/or referrals to individual students who contact EARS (or about whom EARS is contacted) and follow up on their progress to help them overcome their academic difficulties and let them know that Weber State University personnel care about their success.

  • Through EARS’ Fall 2008 formal initiatives that are collaborations with the Developmental English, Developmental Math, and First Year Experience programs (1) provide early intervention contact, information and referrals to academically at-risk students referred to us by participating instructors, (2) follow up on students’ progress towards overcoming their academic difficulties and (3) let them know that Weber State University personnel care about their success. The formal initiatives will focus specifically on students who exhibit poor early attendance and/or poor early performance in Math 950, Math 955, English 955, and EDUC 1105.
