Return to Weber

Do you need to postpone your studies — either before or after you start attending Weber? Whether you're going into the military or religious service, or you need to take some time off for personal reasons, this guide will help you keep everything in place for your return to Weber.

Been Gone a While?

We get it: Life happens. Between family, work and other responsibilities, you may have had to put your education on hold — and that's okay.

If you need assistance along the way, contact the Office of Admissions.

Proxy Access

Will your communication be limited while you’re away?

If you’ll need someone else to access your information, register for classes or activate your scholarship, you must complete the student information release form to grant that person access.

Get Started at Weber

Step 1: Apply for Admission

If you plan to put college on hold for any reason, including religious or military service, we strongly recommend you apply to Weber State before taking any time off — applying later may impact your eligibility for certain scholarships.

Step 2: Apply for Scholarships

If you’re deferring your enrollment to a later date, it is important to apply for scholarships before you go. Scholarship eligibility can change based on when you apply, and some awards might not be available later.

Step 3: Accept Your Scholarships

If you’ve been awarded a scholarship, it’s important to accept it before you temporarily leave Weber State. If you don’t, it may not be available when you return.

Access eWeber

eWeber is Weber State’s secure online space where you can register for classes, apply for scholarships, check your email, pay tuition and more.

To access all the functions of eWeber, you must create a Wildcat account with a username and password. This is different than the password you used to apply for admission.

Before You Go

Step 1: Defer Your Scholarships

Once you have accepted your scholarships, you may be able to put them on hold if you’re temporarily leaving the university.

Step 2: Transfer Your Credit

If you’ve earned college credit from another school, make sure you have transferred those credits to Weber before you leave. This will make it easier for advisors to assist you when you return.

Step 3: Grant Access to Your Info

Weber State abides by falls under the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). We may not release any of your personal information to anyone outside the university, other than you, without your written permission.

Note:

Your ability to defer a scholarship may depend on the reason for postponing your studies. Academic scholarships can be deferred for military deployment, medical leave, internship opportunities or religious service. Scholarships for participation in activities like club sports, band, orchestra or other groups cannot be deferred. Private scholarships may or may not be eligible for deferment.

When You Return

Step 1: Figure Out Finances

Remember: Tuition is due the Friday before classes begin each semester. Federal financial aid can take 8-10 weeks to process, and scholarships may depend on your federally determined need. Apply early!

Step 2: Find Your Starting Point

Whether you’re taking your first classes at Weber or coming back after some time off, it’s important to learn (or relearn) the ropes and get advising to help you reach your goals.

Step 3: Register for Classes

You can check your registration appointment time (the first day you can register) by logging in to the eWeber Registration application. If you’ve forgotten your username or password, use the help links.
