What do pharmacists do?
The profession of pharmacy is undergoing dramatic changes, with pharmacists assuming expanded roles in the delivery of health care. Pharmacists serve as therapeutic advisers to health care providers; provide drug information to consumers; consult on the proper course of action in cases of accidental poisoning; monitor the extent to which patients take prescribed medications and assist in evaluating the therapeutical results; apply their knowledge of drug actions and effects to decrease the probability of adverse reactions; design, implement and monitor drug therapy; and demonstrate the manner in which drugs can be beneficially utilized by society.
Because it is not necessary to have a Bachelors Degree completed when you apply to or attend pharmacy school it is important to meet with an advisor as soon as possible. Where you begin your course work will depend on where you place in Math and Chemistry.
