Students looking to pursue post-graduate degrees in optometry need to prepare right away to be ready for application to optometry schools.

The following are recomended courses can be taken now, at WSU, that are required or recomended for optometry school acceptance. Core courses vary between different optometry schools but the following suggested courses will make you more competitive when applying.

Required and recommended pre-optometry courses

• Human Anatomy and Physiology (Zool 2100, Zool 2200)
• Microbiology (Micro 2054)
• Chemistry (Chem 1210, 1220, 2310, 3070)
• General Physics with labs (Phsx 2010, 2020 or Phsx 2210, 2220)
• 1 year English (English 1010, 2010)
• Mathematics (usually including Math 1210 Calculus)
• Psychology (Psych 1010)
