Health Administrative Services: Health Promotion

The major purpose of the health promotion program is to professionally prepare students for employment in programs that promote health and prevent disease. Coursework emphasizes the development of skills required of the entry-level health educator: assessing needs, planning effective programs, implementing programs, evaluating effectiveness of programs, coordinating services, acting as a resource person, and communicating needs and concerns. Successful program completion may lead to employment in the community (health agencies, public health departments, community action projects), health care system (hospitals, clinics, student health clinics, long-term care, rehabilitation) or in the work place (business, industry, consulting).
