Plaquettes seem to be on every climber's harness these days--the ATC-Guide and the Reverso are everywhere. But do you really know how to use this versatile tool? Top Managed Belays and Multi-Pitch Transitions

Participants must be 18 or older for this clinic.

This field lab will focus on techniques as well as pros and cons to lowering and/or belaying a climber from the top of a crag. These skills will then be utilized to practice multi-pitch transitions from a ledge or hanging belay for faster, safer climbing on longer routes. Saving five minutes at each belay may not seem too important but if you have 20 pitches of climbing, one hour can make the difference between a great day and an epic. Or at least it could make the difference between getting hamburgers at the end of the day or not. This clinic is designed for those who have some experience on multi-pitch terrain, or those aspiring to take their cragging to the next level. Some trad climbing experience will be helpful but not mandatory.

Necessary Equipment: Personal climbing gear (helmet, harness, rock shoes), one plaquette-style belay device, anchor kit (3 locking carabiners, cordelette, two 24” and 48” slings), and notebook.

C.A.M.P. Light and Fast Alpinism

Participants must be 18 or older for this clinic.

Whether you are an experienced alpinist or beginning mountaineer, the benefits of the light & fast approach are indisputable. Being lighter means using less energy with every step we take and every move we make. It is also just downright more comfortable when we are in motion. Being fast equates directly to safety. It means we are navigating hazardous terrain more quickly and tagging the summit in time to descend safely. It is also the way we progress towards bigger objectives over time. This clinic covers the most important aspects of the light & fast approach with a short classroom session followed by an intensive field session where we work on the implementation of the skills, strategies and tactics that are most useful for you. The professional athletes teaching these clinics have made light & fast a part of their very being. As we strongly believe that a commitment to the light & fast mentality is a commitment to an even more awesome life, we strongly believe that folks who take this clinic will get a lot out of it!

Necessary Equipment: Bring your full alpine climbing pack so we can break it down and figure out where things can be lightened up.
