Board of Certification
American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC) is the gold standard for certification of clinical laboratory personnel. ASCP's 2010 wage survey of U.S. Clinical laboratories found that certified laboratory professionals earn up to 14 percent more than their non-certified counterparts. Also, many laboratories will not hire non-certified laboratory personnel.
Students are eligible to sit for the MLT certification exam after successfully graduating with an MLT AAS degree, and for the MLS certification after successfully graduating with an MLS BS degree.
