The Civic Engagement in Action Series initiatives allow students to become deeply involved in substantive citizenship issues. This effort, a blend of national and campus-centered activities, entails a series of national initiatives that are supported by groups of campuses and national partners, designed to create materials and ideas for campuses to use in promoting civic engagement among undergraduates. Each of the initiatives will deal with some critical national issue, such as political engagement, ensuring the stewardship of public lands, fostering civic agency, and tackling America’s financial debt, and will include an examination of the roles and actions of government agencies, advocacy organizations, and citizens in trying to address problems and resolve conflicts.
A dry erase board will be left in the Union atrium with issues for students to comment on and be engaged in what is going on around them.
