MARCIE
supply chain management '21 outstanding grad

Goddard School is unique because of the many resources they provided me. I met with advisors who helped me figure out who I am, my marketable skills, and what jobs are available. My amazing supply chain professors helped me gain confidence in my presentation and analytic skills.

WHY WEBER STATE?

I have always known I'd wanted be be a woman in business, but I was not sure what career path I wanted to pursue. After taking some general classes in the Goddard School of Business, I met students involved in the Supply Chain Cats club and the Achieving Women's Excellence club and knew I wanted to be involved like them!

WHY SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT?

I absolutely love shopping, this drove me to research what career paths were available for people with similar interests. I found Purchasing as a career path, and Supply Chain Management as a way to enter that path.

INCREDIBLE ACCESS

Goddard School is unique because of the many resources they provided me. I had opportunities to hold club president and other leadership roles. I met with academic counselors and career counselors who helped me figure out who I am, my marketable skills, and what jobs are available. My amazing supply chain professors helped me gain confidence in my presentation and analytic skills. And my classroom peers helped carry me through the tough semesters.

GETTING INVOLVED ON CAMPUS

Yes, I held a vice president position for one year and a presidential position for one year in the Achieving Women's excellence club. This club gave me an opportunity to provide events and education to other student peers, as well as confidence building leadership and mentorship experience.

FACULTY IMPACT

I would love to thank many of the past and present faculty and staff involved in the Supply Chain Management program that inspired, mentored, and encouraged me during my years at WSU. To name a few: Brett Merrell, James Taylor, Nancy Tomon, Alicia Ingersoll, Francois Giraud-Carrier, Ben Neve, Alex Muller, and Stan and Dee Fawcett.

ADVICE

Get involved! Push yourself outside of your comfort zone in classes and encourage your peers as they do the same.

CAREER ASPIRATIONS

About six months ago I was offered a great job as a Purchasing Analyst, and I am working to advance my career along the Purchasing path.
