Richard Alley, 2014 recipient of the National Academy of Sciences' Arthur L. Day Prize for science communication will speak in Ogden on Friday December 11
A distinguished glaciologist and climate scientist, Dr. Alley's research has focused on the retrieval and study of ice cores from Greenland and Antarctica. An outstanding communicator, Alley is described in the New York Times as a cross between Carl Sagan and Woody Allen. He has particular gifts for making the science of climate change accessible to everyone, and for taking the politics out of the issue. Dr. Alley has been featured in numerous television documentaries, including Earth: The Operators' Manual, shown on PBS in 2011, and available online. Geography Club Announcement: On December 2 at 1 p.m. there will be a movie viewing of "A River Between Us" in Conference Room 321 in the Shepherds Union Building

 "A River Between Us" is documentary film on the Klamath River that runs from southern Oregon to northern California.  It details the conflict of the communities surrounding the river within the past forty years and the environmental damage caused to the feuds. The movie also documents the restoration project of the river to restore and save as well as healing community ties.   
"A River Between Us" is 90 minutes long with an informal discussion at the end of the film.
The Geography Club will have their opening event on Thursday, October 22nd, 2015 from 4-6pm: Pizza and Orienteering, Rugby Field to the west of the Social Science Building.

GeoCaching Trivia Inter-club Activity

How it works
1.  Email the answers to the first questions at Station 1 (outside Anthropology Office on the first floor) to:
2.  If answers are correct, new coordinates will be emailed to you.  Follow the new coordinates to     Station 2 and answer the new question set.  Email your answers and if correct, follow new coordinates to Station 3 and repeat.
3.  First one to complete all eight stations wins a $75 dollar gift card!
Winner will be announced on 9-17-2014 or when the activity is completed.

Geography Pizza Party, Thursday April 24th at the Pie, 3-5pm!!!

The Panel Discussion "Mormonism and the Environment" occurs Friday, March 21 in the Wildcat Theater at 12:30pm.

On March 24, there will be a screening of "The Air We Breathe" in the Wildcat Theater at 12:30pm and then a discussion with the filmmaker.

March 25 the Geography Club meets at 2:30 in room 318 for snacks, films, and socializing.

On April 22, Earth Day, the club will organize service and then go to see the new "Disney Nature Series" movie.
