June 30 – July 13, 2013
For students age 12 – 26
Sid & Mary Foulger (SMF) International Music Festival offers an intensive, yet fun environment for students who are searching for a summer program that provides daily musical instruction from leading pedagogues and performers from around the world. In residence at Weber State University (WSU) in beautiful Ogden, Utah, WSU is an All-Steinway School that offers state-of-the-art facilities in the Browning Center for the Performing Arts.
In addition to private instruction in solo and chamber music repertoire from world-renowned faculty, SMF International Music Festival is unique from other summer programs by providing students with daily technique class, masterclasses, as well as chamber music coachings and rehearsals. Performances by students and faculty happen on nearly every evening, providing invaluable experience and inspiration for both seasoned and developing performers. Students will have a daily schedule of musical and group activities, as well as ample time for practicing and playing chamber music rehearsals.
For the first time this summer, SMF International Music Festival is offering acting classes led by WSU Professor of Theater, Jim Christian. These classes are designed to enhance students' understanding of stage presence, while addressing movement and non-verbal communication specifically for musicians.
