University Relations Wellness Program

We all know how important wellness is and recognize the benefits that we receive personally. It also provides benefits at the workplace by lowering health care costs and improving productivity.

To encourage our efforts in wellness, we're moving forward with the attached division outline. Basically, with the permission of your supervisor, this allows you to take up to one hour for up to three days per week for wellness activities. To participate, you must have a current wellness assessment through the WSU Employee Wellness Program. Also, you need to schedule the time appropriately with your supervisor by using the attached wellness application, and sign the consent form. We also ask you to keep a log of your wellness activities. In the near future, we hope this log will be available through the faculty staff eWeber portal.

As a final reminder, please remember that this program is set up to be run through the honor system. By accepting your wellness time application, your supervisor is trusting you (a) to be engaged in improving your wellness, (b) to be committed to maintaining your productivity during working hours and (c) to be responsible for all work assignments and tasks. There may be times when a pressing work need overrides your wellness time for the day. Though you can't save up this time to use in later weeks, I hope you are willing to be flexible and cooperate with your supervisors and colleagues as we work collaboratively to promote a healthier workplace.

If you have any questions about the UR Wellness Program, please don't hesitate to contact me or your supervisor.
