A major contributor to the obesity epidemic plaguing the United States today is "portion distortion."  This guide is designed to help individuals better understand what normal portion sizes are, and serve as a reference in choosing healthy food portions daily.

Listed here are some possible ingredient substitutions to assist in making healthier meals.

DASH Diet
A diet plan rich in fruits, vegetables, and low-fat or nonfat dairy that is proven to lower blood pressure and cholesterol.  It is recommended by the American Heart Association and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.  Consult your physician before starting this program.

TLC Diet
The Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes (TLC) diet is recommended by the American Heart Association to reduce high blood cholesterol.  Consult your physician before starting this program.
