17th Annual WSU Gospel Music Festival
The WSU Gospel Music Festival is dedicated to all those who perform, to all those who play, to all those with a song in their heart or the hope to capture one. Anything is possible when we come together!
Rise Up and Make a Joyful Noise with eight amazing campus and community choirs:
- January 13, 2017
- 7:30 p.m. (Doors open at 7 p.m.)
- Austad Auditorium in the Val A. Browning Center
- Free (Please bring a new or gently used book to donate to our k-12 schools)
- Facebook Event
The goal of the festival is to share the African-American sacred music experience with all people and to show its influence on contemporary music. It is designed to educate and provide and celebrate cultural enrichment. The gospel music is based on traditions coming out of the experience of slavery. These characteristics and ways of creating and enjoying music, now the language of the popular music culture, came into contemporary culture by way of the performing traditions of the African-American church.
Event is free and open to the public
