Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT TIME DOES THE DASH BEGIN?

Start time is 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 19.

DO I NEED TO BE A RUNNER TO DO THIS?

This is a "Fun Run"! There are plenty of other great 5Ks out there to test speed and performance. Chuck’s College Town Color Dash event is all about a color crazy day with friends and family. You can run, walk or crawl if you wish!

WHAT IS INCLUDED WITH MY CHUCK'S COLLEGE TOWN COLOR DASH REGISTRATION?

Runners will receive a custom race shirt, cool Color Dash purple sunglasses, race number with a detachable tab that can be used as an entry ticket to Weber State Wildcats football beginning at 3:30 p.m. on the same day as the race, one color packet for the finish line and Sponsor Goodies. (To inquire about Sponsorship openings, email beverlyrudd@weber.edu.)

Race Packets will NOT be mailed to you! You will receive an email about 10 days prior to the race with important race information. Packet pick-up will be held on October 18, 2013 at the Weber State Lindquist Alumni Center from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

CAN SOMEONE ELSE PICK UP MY PACKET FOR ME?

Absolutely! They will just sign for your packet and away they go!

ARE THE PROCEEDS FROM CHUCK’S COLLEGE TOWN COLOR DASH GOING TO A WEBER STATE UNIVERSITY PROGRAM?

Yes! All net proceeds will be going to the Dream Weber program. Dream Weber began in 2010 to provide free tuition to students whose annual household income was $25,000 or less. Beginning fall semester 2013, the Dream Weber program provides free tuition and general student fees to students whose annual household income is $30,000 or less. The purpose of Dream Weber is to help you complete a college degree, will improve your earning potential throughout your life.

CAN I RUN WITH A JOGGING STROLLER AND MY KIDS?

Absolutely! We would love to see families run together in our race. It will be an experience the kids will be talking about for years to come! All kids 5 and under can run with an adult FREE of charge and do not need to register!

CAN I RUN WITH MY DOG?

No dogs are allowed at this race, sorry.

IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT FOR YOUNGER RUNNERS?

No age limits! If they can cover (running, jogging, walking, strolling) the 3 miles of Chuck's College Town Color Dash course, they can participate. Remember if they turn 6 before the race they will need to register and have a race bib!

WILL THE COLOR RUIN CLOTHES OR RUNNING SHOES?

The color does mostly wash out after the event. As with anything dirty, the sooner you wash it the better. We suggest wearing items that you wouldn' mind getting "colorful." If you would like to preserve the color in your running shirt, spray it with vinegar and iron it. If you wash your shirt, the color will eventually come out.

DOES THE COLOR AFFECT RUNNER VISION? OR BREATHING?

The color we use is basically food grade cornstarch and is 100 percent natural and SAFE. As with any substance, you want to keep it out of your eyes, which is why we are supplying you with Color Dash sunglasses as an extra precaution. At the color blast stations, the color throwers make sure to aim low as you pass by. You may want a bandana for your hair and mouth. If you run in the center of the lane, you’ll get a “lighter” color blast. We work hard to make it so our “Color Dashers” get as much or as little color on them as they like.

DO YOU HAVE CLEANING STATIONS AT THE FINISH LINE PARTY?

We have air-blown color cleaning at the finish line. With a good dusting off, you aren’t 100 percent clean, but you are good for the drive home. Most people bring some towels for the insides of their cars, just in case. It is actually pretty fun to see people still colored up around town after the event. It is like a badge of honor!

CAN SPECTATORS ATTEND THE FINISH LINE PARTY?

Absolutely! Bring everyone you know to greet you at the finish line! We will have powder packets available first come/first serve for everyone to purchase. You may want to warn them, though … they’re not coming out of the Color Dash party clean!

ARE CAMERAS AND PHONES SAFE TO HAVE AT THE START/FINISH OR COLOR BLAST AREAS?

It is best to shoot from a medium distance (25-50 feet). If you want to get shots in the midst of the color, we recommend covering cameras/phones with plastic wrap.

IS CHUCK’S COLLEGE TOWN COLOR DASH TIMED?

The 5K run is not a timed event. Runners tend to take their sweet time out there and we realized no one really cares about their speed. We suggest self-timing for anyone desiring a finish time.

CAN I WEAR A COSTUME?

Costumes are more than welcome. Show your Wildcat spirit! We do recommend making costumes as white as possible to ensure you get the most optimal color coverage possible--we promise there will be plenty of purple!

HOW DOES THE FINISH LINE COLOR THROW WORK?

At the finish line party, the crowd will do a color throw to welcome new runners coming in. We provide one bag of color in your race packet and more can be purchased at start line or finish line.

ARE THERE REFUNDS?

Unfortunately, we cannot issue refunds. The logistics of setting up and planning the event make it impossible. If for some reason you can’t make it to race day, you are welcome to still pick up your packet and have fun with your Color Dash goodies.

HOW DO I TRANSFER MY REGISTRATION TO ANOTHER PERSON?

At the time of packet pick-up on October 18 at the Lindquist Alumni Center, please have the new participant go to the “resolution desk” and sign up for the race and indicate which runner he/she will be running for. A fee for the difference of when the original runner registered and the current fee will be collected, and the packet and bib will be issued.
