The Master of Criminal Justice program has a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY regarding any violation of the WSU Student Code. As such, all graduate students are expected to understand and adhere to the Code.
Any
violation of the Student Code, as determined by the course instructor and
the Graduate Director, may result in the
following academic sanctions:
1.
The first violation of the Student Code may result in the Student being
placed
on Departmental Probation. The length of the probationary
period will be in
accordance to the seriousness of the violation and determined by the Graduate
Director
2. A second violation of the Student Code may result in the Student being
removed from the program.
The
following process will be used to determine if a violation of the
Student Code has occurred and the type of length of sanction, if any,
to be imposed:
1. The course instructor makes a determination that a violation of the Student
Code has occurred
2. The course instructor may discuss the offense with the Student and determine
if a formal review is needed (Instructor review with the Student is not required)
3.
Should a formal review be necessary, the course instructor will forward
his/her
determination of a violation, along with all supporting documents,
to the
Graduate Director
4.
The Graduate Director will review the supporting documents provided by
the
course instructor. Upon
completion of the review, the Graduate Director will
either agree or disagree with
the course instructor's determination of a
violation. If the Graduate Director disagrees with the instructor, no further
action will be taken and both the instructor and student will be notified
5.
Should the Graduate Director agree with the course instructor's
determination
of a violation, he/she will administer the appropriate departmental sanction and
forward the course
instructor's documentation, his/her justification(s) for agreement
with
the instructor, and the type and length of departmental sanction to the Dean of
Students for further academic review
Should the Student wish to appeal the departmental sanction, he/she must follow the procedures outlined in the University's Policies and Procedures Manual for Student Code violations.
