The story of astronomy is about us: how we came to understand the cosmos around us and what our place in it is. In these four weeks, we'll introduce ourselves to the cosmos from the comfort of planet Earth.

Week 1: EYES ON THE SKY

* Observing the sky with your eyes,
binoculars and telescopes
  Week 3: THE LIVES OF THE STARS
* Galaxies
* Stellar birth, evolution and death
* Black holes, white dwarfs and neutron stars
Week 2: WORLDS OF FIRE AND ICE
* The formation of the planets
* Terrestrial and giant planets
* Looking for life
  Week 4: THE ORIGIN AND FATE OF THE UNIVERSE
* The Big Bang
* Dark matter and dark energy
