Aquatics and Safety (AQS) Program

Aquatics and Safety Lead

Compensated
Sophomore, Junior, Senior

The AQS Lead assists the AQS coordinator with operations and programming of the AQS program. Duties include assisting with swim lesson programming and scheduling, managing risk, scheduling/supervising/evaluating lifeguards and water safety instructors, reviewing staff payroll, providing customer service to participants, researching and proposing equipment/programming needs, and other duties as assigned.

Water Safety Instructor (WSI)

Compensated
Sophomore, Junior, Senior

The WSI is responsible for teaching the learn-to-swim program following American Red Cross protocols. Duties include ensuring the safety of participants utilizing the pool and facility area around the pool, managing risk, teaching lessons to ARC standards, providing customer service to participants, and the setup and take down of swim lessons.

Lifeguard

The lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of participants utilizing the Swenson pool on the WSU campus. Duties include scanning and patrolling pool areas for safety and risk management, providing care in the case of an emergency or injury, enforcing facility and program policies, providing customer service to participants, and providing daily upkeep/maintenance of office and pool facilities.
