WSU Contest - Skills / Hands-on Contest 2004 - 2005

The nineteenth annual Weber State University Automotive Contest (Skills/Hands-on portion) of the contest was held Thursday, February 10, 2005 at 12 noon in the Technical Education building at WSU.  72 students from 24 schools qualified for the Skills/Hands-on portion of the contest.  The students competed for a set of tools*, a one year tuition waver scholarship from Weber State University, and the chance for their school to win a late model car.  They also qualified to participate in the “Educational Trip” to California, which was April 6 - 10, 2005

 

The students competed by participating in 12 workstations which covered six automotive ASE areas, plus customer service skills, and career information sessions.  The six automotive areas covered are:

·         A1 Engine Repair

·         A3 Manual Drive Train and Axles

·         A4 Suspension and Steering

·         A5 Brakes

·         A6 Electrical /Electronic Systems

·         A8 Engine Performance

The winners of the six ASE areas were announced at an awards banquet.

 

After the banquet, the overall grand-prize winners were announced at the halftime show during the WSU-Montana basketball game.
