The National Football League

Unlike the professional baseball internship program, there isn’t one place to apply if a student wants to intern for one of the 32 teams in the NFL. Students are encouraged to contact each head athletic trainer individually for information on whether that team has an opening for an intern.

The length of these internships varies, based on whether that franchise needs help just during training camp, during the season or for the entire year. The Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society (PFATS) has a link on their Web site with the contact information for each head athletic trainer.

The internship application process for the NFL usually begins in the fall.  Send a resume and cover letter to the Head Athletic Trainer for each team that you are interested in working with.
