Commencement Ceremony Planned for Dec. 13

OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University officials expect more than 1,500 candidates for graduation this December. WSU will award degrees and institutional certificates Dec. 13, during its 142nd commencement ceremony at the Dee Events Center. Commencement exercises begin at 1 p.m.
 
Unlike the university’s spring commencement, when individual convocations are conducted separately from the main program, WSU’s business school and six academic colleges will confer all degrees and certificates during one ceremony. 

All graduates attending commencement will receive a commemorative medallion in recognition of their accomplishments. The medallions will be presented only to graduates who attend the commencement exercise.

“Putting Student Through,” a program honoring parents, spouses and friends of graduates, will precede the ceremony at 9 a.m. in Shepherd Union Ballroom A.

Health care executive and business owner Joné Law Koford will deliver the keynote address and will be awarded an honorary degree. Koford is the owner and president of Ennovative Performance Group, a health care advisory and resource company. She is also the chair of WSU’s National Advisory Council and has served on the council for nearly two decades.

The student graduate speaker will be Syracuse resident Amber Price, who is earning her bachelor’s degree in communication.

Guest tickets are not required for the commencement ceremonies.

Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.American Sign Language interpreting services will be available in Section S at the base of Portal 17. Disability access at the Dee Events Center is available at the east and north entrances.

Parking on campus will be free throughout the day. Shuttle bus service will pick up passengers at the southeast corner of the Stewart Library and transport them to the east entrance of the Dee Events Center. The shuttle will operate 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on commencement day and will pick up passengers every 10 minutes during peak hours.

Beginning Dec. 23, the commencement ceremony can be viewed on WSU’s YouTube channel at youtube.com/weberstateu. On Jan. 7, DVD copies of the graduation ceremony will be available for $3 at WSU’s Campus Store.
