Students Create Ad for CBS
OGDEN, Utah -- The CBS Early Show gave two Weber State University communication students national television exposure on Wednesday (Jan. 17).
Seniors Michael Jordan and Michael Eddy submitted a commercial in the “Chevy Super Bowl College Ad Challenge,” in which Chevrolet invited college students nationwide to submit ideas for a Super Bowl ad featuring Chevy’s new line of vehicles. According to Chevy, more than 800 teams from approximately 200 schools applied. The winning entry will air during the Super Bowl broadcast on Feb. 4.
While Jordan and Eddy’s ad missed the cut for the grand prize, their entry was included in a weekly segment on the Early Show, featuring some of the best ads submitted. The ad featured an unconscious football player daydreaming about driving his Chevy in warmer climes.
In addition to being featured on national television, the ad is now on the CBS Early Show Web site (cbsnews.com/stories/2007/01/09/earlyshow/main2341201.shtml) where viewers can vote for it among three choices in the “Best Use of Humor” category. Balloting ends Jan. 23, with the results announced on the Early Show Jan. 24.
