History Professor to Discuss New Book on Homesickness

OGDEN, Utah -- Susan J. Matt, a Weber State University history professor and department chair, will discuss her new book, “Homesickness: An American History,” on Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. in the Lindquist Alumni Center Garden Room.

The lecture is free to the public.Matt will discuss the changing nature of homesickness, which was recognized as a powerful emotion in the 19th century but today is dismissed as a sign of immaturity akin to what children feel at summer camp.

The event is sponsored by the WSU Alumni Association, the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences and the Department of History.
