Student Blanket Drive Aims to Share the WarmthOGDEN, Utah – Weber State University's 2004 Share the Warmth blanket drive, organized by WSU students, is building upon the tremendous success of the 2003 drive when 250 blankets were donated.
This year's drive runs from Oct. 1 to Dec. 1 with the goal of collecting 1,000 blankets. Blankets can be dropped off in the purple and orange boxes located in most buildings on WSU's Ogden and Davis campuses.
This year, the drive is expanding beyond the university to include area neighborhoods, high schools, businesses, local churches and relief organizations. Like last year, the drive will benefit foster children and senior citizens in Utah who are in need of blankets to help them stay warm during the winter months.
Following the devastation of the 2004 hurricane season, this year's campaign will also send blankets to families in need in Florida. While the Florida winter may not be as extreme as those we have in Utah, temperatures get pretty chilly at night, especially in the northern part of the state. Many families lost everything following the storms. These blanket donations will go a long way to help Floridians stay warm during the approaching winter.
