Domestic Violence Awareness Month Activities Planned
OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University's Services for Women Students will host several activities during October in connection with Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
A presentation by WSU Counseling Psychologist Deborah Lind about the warning signs of dating violence will be one of the month's highlights. Lind will present "But I Thought He Loved Me, But I Thought She Cared: About Men and Women and the Warning Signs of Dating Violence" Oct. 18 at 11 a.m. in Shepherd Union 347-348.
"If you know the warning signs, you'll be able to recognize them before a situation gets out of control," said Nikki Nicholas, Services for Women Students counselor.
Other planned activities include a service project to raise donations for the Safe Harbor Domestic Violence Shelter, two showings of the film "No One Would Tell," starring Candace Cameron and Fred Savage, and a group discussion led by Dianna Rangel, director of Counseling and Psychological Services, about the book "The Gift of Fear" by Gavin De Becker. There will also be showings of the films "Spouse Abuse: A Global Perspective," "Quiet Storm Project: Youth/Teen Dating Violence Prevention" and "In Love."
All activities are free and open to the public. For more information contact Services for Women Students at (801) 626-6090.
