WSUSA to Host Meetings on Proposed Ogden Development

OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State University Student Association will host the first of four informative discussions about the proposed development along Ogden's east bench Sept. 27 at noon in the Shepherd Union Gallery.

The proposed development envisions a gondola traveling from downtown Ogden to a proposed resort in Malan's Basin, and the purchase of city and university land by developer Chris Peterson.

The first meeting will include an overview of the project with presentations from representatives both for and against it that will be moderated by Frank Guliuzza, Department of Political Science chair. After the presentations, WSUSA has planned a short question and answer period. Questions must be written down and presented with the author's name and will be presented by Guliuzza.

Presentations also are planned for November, January and February. The November meeting will discuss how the proposal would affect WSU students, the January meeting will focus on the environmental impact on the university, and the February meeting will consider the financial impact on WSU.

The meetings' primary focus is student discussion on the topic, but the community also is welcome to attend.

"We want to take a closer look at how this proposal will affect students and the university," said Peter Owen, WSUSA president.
