OGDEN, Utah – Presentations by Sen. Mike Lee and “New York Times” media reporter Brian Stelter are two of a number of activities planned to celebrate Constitution Week at Weber State University September Sept. 16-20.
As is traditional for a birthday, the 226th birthday of the U.S. Constitution will also include a party. The community is invited for cake and complimentary copies of the Constitution on Sept. 17 from 11a.m. to noon in the Shepherd Union Atrium.
The American Democracy Project (ADP) sponsors the events as part of a national effort to remind all citizens — particularly students — of the significance of the U.S. Constitution.
Leah Murray, political science professor and ADP co-chair, helped launch Constitution Week at the university 10 years ago.
“The constitution is the document that really governs our lives,” Murray said. “For 200 years we failed to commemorate its birth, so now we celebrate with Constitution Week to teach students in fun and informative ways that the Constitution is what makes us citizens.”

Sept. 17: Birthday cake and complimentary copies of Constitution, Shepherd Union Atrium, 11 a.m.-noon.
