Community Invited to Meet AD Candidates

OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University will host a series of open-house meetings so the community can meet and interact with the three candidates interviewing for the Wildcats athletic director position.

WSU announced earlier this week that Curt Apsey, associate director of athletics at Boise State University, Steven Holton, longtime athletic director at Northern Arizona University, and William Weidner, athletic director at The University of Texas-Pan American, would be coming to campus to interview for the AD position. These candidates emerged from a national search that included more than 45 applicants.

"The search committee felt it was important for members of the community to have an opportunity to meet and get to know these candidates," said Norm Tarbox, vice president of Administrative Services and chair of the search committee.

The community open houses will be held on campus at 6 p.m. on the day of each candidate's visit.

Community Open House Schedule:

Sept. 14 6 p.m. Curt Apsey, third floor, Stewart Stadium Sky Suites
Sept. 216 p.m. Steven Holton, Shepherd Union Ballroom A
Sept. 226 p.m. William Weidner, third floor, Stewart Stadium Sky Suites

The AD position has been open since July when John Johnson accepted a position as senior associate athletic director at Washington State. Former Wildcats athletic director Dutch Belnap will continue to serve as acting athletic director until the position is filled.
