Thompson Selected to Lead Wildcat ClubOGDEN, Utah – Becky Thompson has been selected as the new director for the Wildcat Club at Weber State University.
Thompson is no stranger to the Wildcat community, having worked in WSU’s Alumni Relations since 1998, most recently as associate director. She was involved in planning the grand opening of the Stewart Stadium Sky Suites in 2001, organizing numerous alumni tailgate events, and helping with the formation of the Purple Pak student group, whose members show their school spirit at athletic events and pep rallies.
“Becky brings tremendous professionalism, dedication and enthusiasm for Weber State to the Wildcat Club,” said WSU athletic director Jerry Graybeal. “She has a knack for bringing creativity to events that will elevate the Wildcat Club to a whole new level.”
“I’m excited about the opportunity to tackle a new challenge at Weber State,” said Thompson, who is already preparing for the Wildcat Athletic Hall of Fame event Oct. 19, and the annual Wildcat Bash Dinner and Auction Nov. 2, a major fund-raising event for Wildcat Athletics.
Established in 1962, the Wildcat Club has more than 780 members, including private and corporate sponsors. Wildcat Club members support WSU Athletics by donating to student-athlete scholarship funds, organizing road trips to support the teams at away games, and participating in other booster activities. The Wildcat Club generates community excitement for WSU’s NCAA teams by sponsoring activities such as the Jr. Wildcat Club (in conjunction with the WSU Alumni Association), coaches’ luncheons, and the annual Wildcat Club Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony. In addition to the Cat Bash dinner and auction, the club helps raise funds for student-athlete scholarships through the annual Gary Crompton Golf Classic and the popular split-the-pot raffles on game days.
Thompson will assume her new role on Sept. 4. She succeeds former Wildcat Club director Bob Morris.
