'Earthquake Lady' to Speak at WSU

OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State University Alumni Association will host a free earthquake preparedness presentation by Maralin Hoff, also known as the "Earthquake Lady," Aug. 22 at 6:30 p.m.

Hoff, a community presenter for the Utah Division of Homeland Security Office of Emergency Services, has done numerous trainings throughout the state regarding earthquake preparedness. She uses video and audio effects to simulate what would happen to a business, home or school in the event of an earthquake. She stresses the importance of having preparedness kits for the car, home and office, and personalizing them for each individual.

Hoff has presented at daycare centers, senior care centers, hospitals, churches and businesses. She is currently working to cater her presentation to special needs groups.

The upcoming presentation is part of the WSUAA Class Without a Quiz series and will be held at the Lindquist Alumni Center. The class is free, but space is limited.
