OGDEN, Utah – Thanks to proceeds from the Weber County RAMP Initiative, Utah Musical Theatre is offering 300 complimentary tickets to its Aug. 19 matinee performance of "Songs for a New World."
The tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis to all Utah residents. To claim the free tickets, individuals must present proof of residency in Utah. The complimentary tickets will be limited to two per household or residence. Additional tickets to this matinee will be available at regular price.
"Songs for a New World," making its Utah premiere with UMT this season, features music and lyrics by newcomer Jason Robert Brown, whose blend of savvy showmanship and exciting contemporary sound has created a buzz in the theater community. "Songs for a New World" will interest adults and older teens and does contain some PG-13 language.
In addition to the Aug. 19 matinee performance, the show will be staged again that evening at 8 p.m. and Aug. 18, 24-26 at 7:30 p.m. at Peery's Egyptian Theater (2415 Washington Blvd.) in Ogden.
Tickets are $20 per person, $16 for seniors, students, military and educators. Season subscriptions are available for $50 each. Youth subscriptions are available for $3 apiece with each full-price adult subscription purchased. For advance tickets, contact the Dee Events Center Ticket Office at (801) 626-8500 or 1-800-WSU-TIKS, or go online at weber.edu/ticketoffice.
The Weber County RAMP Initiative was enacted in 2004 as a way to generate funding for local recreation, arts, museums and parks. Proceeds from RAMP are distributed to qualified non-profit organizations, and city and county entities through a formal proposal process, with special consideration given to endeavors that offer significant cultural and educational opportunities for families and schools.
