Health Professions Dean Appointed to Child Abuse Prevention Task Force

OGDEN, Utah – Shelley Conroy, dean of the Dr. Ezekiel R. Dumke College of Health Professions, has been appointed to serve on the Governor's Utah Child Abuse Prevention Task Force.

Members of the task force, representing a diverse cross section of state and community organizations, were appointed by the Board of the Division of Child and Family Services/Department of Human Services to develop recommendations regarding child abuse prevention in Utah.  Their work will include assessing the effectiveness of current programs aimed at preventing child abuse and studying new approaches and possible funding streams for future prevention methods.

The task force will complete its work and submit a report with recommendations by Dec. 31, 2004. The findings will be used to advise the board, the Governor, legislators, state departments and institutions, county and municipal governments, private agencies and concerned citizens.
