WSU Students Compete at International Conference

OGDEN, Utah – Students from Weber State University's Delta Epsilon Chi chapter (DEX) competed along with 2,500 college students at the International Career Development Conference held last month in Nashville, Tenn.

The conference featured participants from 250 colleges and universities representing 26 states, Canada and Puerto Rico.

WSU had seven students finish in the top 10 of their respective competitions, with Sean MacDonald taking the highest honors for WSU—finishing second in the sales representative event.

"In all, our students did a good job representing WSU," said DEX advisor Desiree Cooper Larsen. "I thought they should have won their events, but unfortunately the judges didn't see it that way."

Larsen said this competition was a great opportunity for students to learn things in their field that can't be taught in a classroom.

The students earned a spot at the international event by placing in the top ten at the state competition in February. WSU had a strong showing at state earning top-three finishes in 11 events, including first-place winners in travel and tourism, sales manager meeting, and sales representative.
