OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University officials are expecting the Class of 2005 to total more than 3,500 graduates. More than 2,300 candidates for graduation this spring will be honored May 5-6 during WSU's 125th commencement. An additional 1,200 members of the Class of 2005 received their degrees in conjunction with the university's winter commencement last December.
The main ceremony will be held May 5 in the Dee Events Center. An academic processional will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the formal program. Kenneth A. "Kay" Randall, will deliver the keynote address and will be awarded an honorary degree. Other honorary degree recipients are: Carolyn "Mitzi" Brady, Richard C. Roberts, and Roy W. Simmons. The student graduate speaker will be Todd J. Wente, who is earning a master of education degree.
"Putting Students Through College," a short program where graduates honor parents, spouses and friends who supported them, will precede the commencement at 3:30 p.m. in the Shepherd Union Ballroom.
WSU's business school and six academic colleges will hold individual convocations May 6 at various campus locations. Refer to attached schedule for exact times and locations.
The program will be rebroadcast on KUED (Channel 7) May 7 at 1:30 p.m.
Parking will be free at the Dee Events Center on May 5 and all campus parking lots will be available free of charge throughout the day on May 6. Campus shuttle buses will also be running between the Dee Events Center and the main campus both days.
ASL services will be available in seating section S at the base of portal 17.
