OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University officials are expecting the Class of 2004 to total more than 3,900 graduates. More than 2,100 candidates for graduation this spring will be honored May 6-7 during WSU's 123rd commencement. An additional 1,700 members of the Class of 2004 received their degrees in conjunction with the university's winter commencement last December.
The main ceremony will be held May 6 in the Dee Events Center. An academic processional will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the formal program. Omar Kader, a nationally recognized voice for the Palestinian people and a prominent advocate for peace in the Middle East, will deliver the keynote address and will be awarded an honorary degree. Other honorary degree recipients are: Robert DeBoer, Jean Howe Andra Miller, and Jack Parson, Jr. The student graduate speaker will be business administration major Jonathan Hart.
The ceremony will be Web cast live May 6 at 5:30 p.m. (MDT) at weber.edu/commencement.
"Putting Students Through College," a short program where graduates honor parents, spouses and friends who supported them, will precede the commencement at 3:30 p.m. in the Shepherd Union Ballroom.
WSU's business school and six academic colleges will hold individual convocations May 7 at various campus locations. Refer to attached schedule for exact times and locations.
The program will be rebroadcast on KUED (Channel 7) May 8 at 2:30 p.m.
Parking will be free at the Dee Events Center on May 6 and all campus parking lots will be available free of charge throughout the day on May 7. Campus shuttle buses will also be running between the Dee Events Center and the main campus both days.
ASL services will be available in seating section S at the base of portal 17.

College receptions will commence immediately following their respective convocations.
Receptions for convocations held in the Dee Events Center will be located on the south quadrant of the Dee Events Center parking lot. In case of inclement weather, the receptions will be held in the Swenson Gym.
The reception for the convocation held in the Shepherd Union Building Ballroom will be located in the UB Gallery.
Receptions for convocations held in the Browning Center - Austad Auditorium will be held on the Tracy Plaza, north side of the Browning Center. In case of inclement weather, the receptions will be held in the Ethel Wattis Kimball Visual Art Center-Dumke Family Atrium.
