Presenters to Revisit Utah in the 20th Century

April 14, 2010

The Weber State University Alumni Association and the Weber Historical Society will host “Utah in the Twentieth Century” presented by BYU history professors Brian Q. Cannon and Jessie L. Embry.

The event will be held at 7 p.m., April 19 in the Lindquist Alumni Center on WSU’s Ogden campus.

Cannon and Embry served as editors for a recently published collection of essays on “Utah in the Twentieth Century.” Lamenting the fact that Utah history scholars and courses tend to neglect events in the past century in favor of what seems to be a more colorful 19th century, the editors present essays from noted Utah history scholars that demonstrate an equally fascinating and unique story of the state as it developed after being admitted to the Union in 1896.

Professors Embry and Cannon will discuss their book and make their case for a more complete history of Utah. Both presenters will autograph copies of their book.

The event is free to the public.
