Weekend Forecast Calls for "Wasatch Thunder"

OGDEN, Utah – While the U.S. military continues to fight the conflict in Iraq, more than 125 ROTC cadets from across Utah will participate in “Wasatch Thunder,” an Army ROTC military exercise designed to train future officers.

The three-day event, April 11-13, will be split between Camp Williams near the Point of the Mountain and drills at Blue Lake in the West Desert. Scheduled events feature weapons firing exercises, simulated war games using paintball cartridges, and enemy territory patrols.

Cadets from Brigham Young University, Utah State University, Utah Valley State College and Weber State University, will compete in exercises designed to assess future officers’ ability to react and lead under adverse conditions.

Members of the media may contact Capt. Bob Bashein at (801) 626-6932 for more information about the schedule of events and arranging access to Camp Williams.
