OGDEN, Utah –Weber State University’s Emeriti Alumni Association is looking for alumni and former faculty and staff who served during World War II.
The association plans to honor Weber State’s World War II veterans during Homecoming, Oct. 20-25.
"We owe a debt of gratitude to those of that era who served so unselfishly, often in harm's way, to preserve the precious freedoms we enjoy today," said Jim Hurst, chairman of a committee planning the event.
"Weber State University has a uniquely rich legacy of its own 'Greatest Generation' in our alumni who committed themselves to serve, did so with valor, and returned to classes after the war, without expectations of the homage they so richly deserved."
Anyone who has information about these individuals, both living and deceased, should contact WSU Alumni Association by phone at (801) 626-7535, e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or mail at Alumni Association, Weber State University, 3701 University Circle, Ogden, UT 84408-3701.
The deadline to submit names of WSU veterans and contact information is June 1.
In addition to honoring veterans, organizers hope to publish a collection of their memories and display war-related memorabilia.
