WSU Hosts NCAA Wildcat Watch Party
OGDEN, Utah – Wildcat fans are invited to cheer on the Weber State University men’s basketball team in its first-round game in the NCAA Tournament, March 18 at several Ogden locations, including the Shepherd Union Building, Weber State Downtown and MacCool’s Public House.
The Wildcats will meet the Xavier Musketeers at 7:20 p.m. (MT) in the Scottrade Center, in St. Louis, Missouri. Xavier earned a No. 2 seed in the East region, with the Wildcats earning a No. 15 seed.
The Shepherd Union watch party will be held in a newly remodeled space in the building called Waldo’s Corner Pocket, which is adjacent to billiards and bowling. The new entertainment space has food and drink options and multiple big-screen TVs.
Weber State Downtown, 2314 Washington Blvd., also invites fans to “get wild” and watch the game on big-screen TVs. All fans are welcome to the free Weber State watch parties and are encouraged to show their Wildcat pride by wearing purple. Student Involvement and Leadership, Wildcat Store and WSU athletics will host the events and sponsor prizes, including one signed basketball by coach Randy Rahe, gift cards, T-shirts, growl towels and snacks.
MacCool’s Public House restaurant will support the Wildcats with a fan watch party at its Ogden location, 2510 Washington Blvd. Fans who want to participate in watch parties in other parts of the country can visit alumni.weber.edu/NCAA for more information and locations. The game will be televised nationally on TNT.
Weber State earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament after beating Montana 62-59 in the Big Sky Championship, March 12 in Reno, Nevada. They also won the Big Sky regular-season title for the 22nd time.
This will be the first meeting between Weber State and Xavier. Weber State is 2-5 against current teams in the Big East Conference.
The winner of Friday’s game will play the winner of Wisconsin and Pittsburgh on Sunday.
