Students Plan to Go Extra Mile for Education

February 12, 2004

OGDEN, Utah – Students from Weber State University will join with college students from across Utah to send a message to legislators about the importance of higher education.

The Utah Council of Student Body Presidents has organized college students to run across the state carrying letters to lawmakers. On Feb. 18 two letters will begin their journey; one at the Idaho border, the other at the Arizona border. The letters will be carried by hundreds of students and administrators, passing through every public college and university in Utah.

WSU's leg of the relay will begin at the Bell Tower at noon Feb. 19. Representatives of the WSU community will take the letter south into Davis County en route to the Capitol.

On Feb. 20 both letters are scheduled to arrive at the Capitol Building where they will be read to Utah State Legislators. (The estimated arrival time at the Capitol is between 10:30-11 a.m.)
