Improv Comedy Troupe Offers Laughter for a Wednesday

OGDEN, Utah – The legendary Second City Improv Comedy Troupe will bring its highly charged, improvisational comedy to Weber State University Wednesday, Feb. 16.

The troupe, which was a comedic training ground for the likes of Joan Rivers, Dan Castellaneta (the voice of Homer Simpson), Tina Fey and Mike Meyers, will make two appearances on the 16th. At noon in the Shepherd Union Wildcat Theater, the troupe will host a convocations presentation focusing on their storied past which stretches back more than fifty years. They will also celebrate their highly successful alumni who have starred on TV shows like "Saturday Night Live" and "Mad TV," and on the big screen in films like "Mean Girls" and the "Austin Powers" series.

At 7 p.m. in WSU's Austad Auditorium in the Browning Center, the troupe will present a full-scale comedic performance reminiscent of late-night comedy shows.

"If you're a fan of 'Saturday Night Live,' you'll love it," says Nikki Nicholas, the coordinator for WSU's student programs. "The humor will be a bit more adult-themed and very similar to what you'd see on that show."

The convocations presentation is free to all; the night performance will cost $1 with a WSU student identification card or $2 without one. For more information about the group's appearance, call 626-6349.
